Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training


Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the province/territory of work, Basic cardiac life support (BCLS)


Experience: Experience an asset


Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English


Work Setting: Home for the aged, Nursing or convalescent home


Area of Specialization: Geriatrics, Palliative care


Specific Skills: Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions, Collaborate to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care, Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician, Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions, Provide health education, Provide nursing care, Conduct disease screening, Supervise licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff


Additional Skills: General counselling, Death counselling, Infection control


Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning


Other Information:A 64 bed LTC Home for Hearing, Hard of Hearing, Deaf and Deaf/Blind Seniors. Will consider new grads. Excellent opportunity for Retired Nurses. Knowledge of ASL an asset but not required.
