Title: Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf Registered practical nurse (ON) (Long Term Care)  

Terms of Employment: Casual, Part Time, Shift

Salary: To be negotiated

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Barrie, Ontario (1 vacancy) 

Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training


Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Licensure by the appropriate province or territory of work, Basic cardiac life support (BCLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate


Experience: Experience an asset


Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English


Work Setting: Home for the aged, Nursing or convalescent home


Area of Specialization: Geriatrics, Palliative care


Registered Nursing Assistant Specific Skills: Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse, Distribute medication to patients, Change patients' dressings, Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families, Assist registered nurses with various medical procedures


Additional Skills: Monitor patients' progress and report any changes


Security and Safety: Immunization records, Tuberculosis test


Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods


Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation


Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning


Other Information:A 64 bed LTC Home for Hearing, Hard of Hearing, Deaf and Deaf/Blind Seniors. Will consider new grads. Excellent opportunity for Retired RPNs. Knowledge of ASL an asset but not required.
